Associate Vice President of Health and Well-being

The Ohio State University

Shawnté is the Associate Vice President of Health and Well-being at The Ohio State University and an adjunct Assistant Professor at Tulane University’s online MPH program. She just concluded her tenure as the Associate Dean of Health and Wellness at Central Washington University. She is a graduate of East Carolina University with a BS in Health Education & Promotion with a concentration in Worksite Health. She received her MA degree in Wellness from Chatham University and completed her Ed.D. from St. Thomas University in Educational Leadership & Management. Shawnté is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist, a Certified Health & Wellness Professional (ACHA), and Certified Wellness & Health Coach. At East Carolina University-Student Health she was the Health Educator for over five and a half years. While at East Carolina, she also served as the Assistant Director of Greek Life for the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Multicultural Greek Council. After ECU, she worked at UNC Charlotte – Center for Wellness Promotion, where she was the ATOD Health Educator. After three and a half years, she moved to IUPUI as the inaugural Director of Health and Wellness Promotion. In addition, Shawnté held faculty appointments with the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the School of Liberal Arts. She has served as an Adjunct Instructor teaching Peer Health, and Health and Wellness courses. She is active in the American College Health Association, where she sits on the Board of Directors and NASPA, in which she serves as the Co-Chair for the Wellness and Health Promotion Knowledge Community.

Sponsored by ACHA, a designated provider of continuing education content hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designed for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.0 total Category 1 continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level contact hours available are 1.0. There are 1.0 Continuing Competency credits available.


Successful Completion/Post Test
It is the policy of the American College Health Association that when a post-test is required upon completion of a continuing education activity, participants must receive a passing grade of 80%. If participants receive a grade lower than 80%, they will be given the opportunity to re-take the post-test one time. If they receive 80% or higher the second time, they will be awarded continuing education credits/contact hours for the activity. We encourage participants to complete the post-test immediately after viewing the download.
