Insurance 101: Confidently Navigate the Complex World of Health Insurance
Health insurance is a complex subject and our student body often depends on us to educate them on insurance. This session will provide an overview of health insurance fundamentals and then build upon those to discuss the strategies Iowa State University has put in to place to help students and parents, such as: access and networks; uninsured and underinsured students; Medicaid; transparency efforts; sliding fee scales; and tools and resources the university offers to students and parents.

- List strategies to ensure that cost isn’t a barrier for uninsured or underinsured students.
- List 2-3 strategies/tools you can implement immediately to teach students and parents about insurance.

The American College Health Association (ACHA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Successful Completion/Post Test
It is the policy of the American College Health Association that when a post-test is required upon completion of a continuing education activity, participants must receive a passing grade of 80%. If participants receive a grade lower than 80%, they will be given the opportunity to re-take the post-test one time. If they receive 80% or higher the second time, they will be awarded continuing education credits/contact hours for the activity. We encourage participants to complete the post-test immediately after viewing the download.
